GP2 Track Quality Ratings

My ratings reflect a primary focus on a track being free of bugs. You may have a different veiw on what makes a good track, but for me if a track is riddled with bugs I don't care how good the track layout is, I will not rate it a good track.

Please also note that the ratings are in order than those wishing to simply race new tracks can be assisted in finding good tracks to race. You will find that with many authors they start off with some poorer tracks and get better as they become more practiced at Track Editing. Also keep in mind that the Track Editor is improving all the time as is the amount of information known about the track format.

Ratings of new circuits are out of 10, ratings for modified circuits (Original Microprose) are out of 5.
Patches for IA Tracks are rated along the same lines as new circuits.

Please also note that if a track has been updated in the last week my rating may not yet reflect the update.
Where the author has used version numbers (not many have when updating), I have listed the version number.

If you have developed a track that is not included in my ratings or is an update of a track I have rated, then feel free to email it to me. If it is already on a website then only email me the address at where I can obtain the track and I will download it for myself if I have not already done so. All tracks are to be submitted in ZIP format. It would be helpful if you could include in your email message wether your track is a new track or an update. It is also recommended that a GP2FORM.TXT file is included in your ZIP file.

The following criteria is used as a guide for my ratings :

New Tracks

10
Superb track in every way. Must be bug free, CC line must be of a high standard and the track layout must be of a high standard. Must provide for very enjoyable racing.
9
Good track. Must not have any serious bugs, ideally bug free. CC line must be of a high standard. Either track layout must be of a high standard or track must be bug free. Must provide for enjoyable racing.
8
Ok track. Must not have any serious bugs on the track, possibly might have a slight problem with pitlane. CC line must be drivable and must not leave the track. Could be a very enjoyable track for racing that is downgraded due to some slight bugs as outlined above. I would encourage the author of any track receving a rating of 8 that has some bugs that have obviously downgraded its rating to try and fix the bugs to make it a really great track.
7
Barely Recommended Track. May have a semi-serious bug. CC line might leave the track occasionally. Pitlane may be a disaster. Such a track may be a very good layout but bugs have caused the downgrading. Like those ranked an 8, I would encourage the author to fix any bugs to make it a really great track.
6
Not Recommended Track. Serious bugs may exist. CC line may be awful. Pitlane may be a disaster. Such a track definately needs further work.
5
Not Recommended Track. Serious bugs may exist. CC line may not be present. Pitlane may not be accessible. If CC line is not present or Pitlane is not accessible then a rating of 5 suggest that otherwise it would be an excellent track. If all that is missing is the CC line then I would encourage any author of a track rated 5 to make sure they get one done as a rating of 5 without a CC line is reserved for a track that is otherwise of the highest quality.
4
Disappointing Track. Many serious bugs may exist. CC line may not be present. Pitlane may not be accessible. Needs serious work to make it of an acceptable standard. If the track is missing a CC line then I would encourage any author of a track rated 4 to make sure they get one done as a rating of 4 without a CC line is reserved for a track that otherwise would be a good track.
3
Disappointing Track. Many serious bugs may exist. CC line may not be present. Pitlane may not be accessible. Car may go off into "No Man's Land" during a lap. Needs serious work to make it of an acceptable standard. May not be worth the trouble.
2
Disaster Track. Many very serious bugs may exist. CC line may not be present. Pitlane may not be accessible. Car may go off into "No Man's Land" during a lap. Such a track should never have been released.
1
Disaster Track. Many very serious bugs may exist. CC line may not be present. Pitlane may not be accessible. Car may go off into "No Man's Land" during a lap no matter what line you take. Such a track should never have been released.

Is this a Track? The worst of the worst. Absolutely undrivable track whatever control you use. You may need to be psychic to work out how to get out of "No Man's Land". Pits probably weren't even thought of. What is a CC line? Wouldn't matter anyway! The Computer Cars still wouldn't know where to go. Unless this was released as a joke I would suggest that the author has made a serious error in judgement in releasing such a track.

Modified Tracks

5
Excellent Track - Improves upon original in some way.
4
Good Track - Different but equivalent in quality to original.
3
Not Recommended Track - Worse than original track. May include semi-serious bugs. CC line might be a bit average.
2
Disappointing Track - Worse than original track. May include serious bugs or many semi-serious bugs. Pitlane may have been massacred. CC line might be awful. Needs serious work to make it acceptable.
1
Disaster Track - Original track has been totally butchered. May include many serious bugs. Pitlane probably has problems introduced. CC line may be a disaster. Such a track should never have been released.
0
What Track does this resemble? - The author of this track is highly skilled in butchering good tracks. May include many very serious bugs. Pitlane may be inaccessible. CC line may be totally destroyed. Unless this is a joke track the author has made a serious error in judgement in releasing such a track.
